15-Year-Old Pillion Rider Dies After Motorcycle Skids At Assonora

ASSONORA: A 15-year-old boy died after the motorcycle he was travelling on as a pillion rider reportedly skidded near Holy Cross Chapel on Goa State Highway 1 at Assonora on September 22.

According to Colvale Police, the accident occurred around 1.30 pm when Shivraj, 22, was riding a Honda Shine from Assonora towards Sirsaim.

Police said the rider allegedly drove rashly and negligently and lost control of the motorcycle near the chapel, causing it to skid and both occupants to fall onto the road.

The teenage pillion rider from Poriem, Sattari, suffered head and eye injuries. He was taken to Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Colvale Police registered a case under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita based on a complaint by Head Constable Haresh Madhukar Redkar.

PSI Ramchandra Satelkar is conducting further investigation. Police said the accused has not been arrested and has been served a notice under Section 35(3) of the BNSS.
