165 Patients Book Online OPD Appointments At GMC On First Day.

Panaji: As many as 165 patients booked their OPD appointments online on the very first day of the launch of the digital registration system at Goa Medical College (GMC), indicating a positive public response to the State government’s push towards patient-friendly healthcare services.The online appointment facility, introduced to streamline OPD services and reduce waiting time, allows patients to schedule visits in advance for the next six working days. The service is currently available for the departments of Medicine, Surgery, Dermatology, ENT and Orthopaedics.Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said the strong initial response demonstrated public confidence in digital healthcare initiatives. “The fact that 165 patients used the online system on day one itself shows that people are keen to adopt organised and time-saving services. This initiative is aimed at making OPD services more efficient and accessible,” Rane said.He added that online booking would help patients avoid long queues and better plan their hospital visits. “This is a step towards a more structured OPD system that benefits both patients and healthcare providers,” the Health Minister said.Rane encouraged citizens to increasingly use the online platform, stating that the initiative forms part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen public healthcare delivery under The Goa Model.Patients can register and book appointments through the official GMC website at gmcgoa.edu.in.
