*₹3.50-CRORE LUXURY CAR WITH POLICE ESCORT: GIRISH CHODANKAR DEMANDS ANSWERS FROM CM PRAMOD SAWANT* *Whose car is it, who uses it, and why is police security being provided? Chief Minister must come clean on the controversial vehicle*

Panaji, October 24, 2026: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Girish Chodankar has demanded a clear and transparent explanation from Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant regarding a luxury car reportedly worth approximately ₹3.50 crore that has been seen travelling on Goa’s roads under police escort.

Raising serious questions about the ownership, use and security arrangements surrounding the vehicle, Chodankar asked the Chief Minister to explain why such an expensive car requires a police escort and whether the same privilege is extended to the Chief Minister or Union Ministers. He questioned whether the vehicle belongs to a politically influential individual and what official justification exists for providing police protection to it.

“The people of Goa deserve answers, not silence. When a luxury car reportedly worth ₹3.50 crore moves around with a police escort, the government must explain who owns it, who uses it and under whose authority the escort is provided. Is this a matter of official protocol, or are special privileges being extended to someone influential?” Chodankar asked.

He pointed out that the vehicle’s registration number reportedly bears similarities to the registration numbers of other vehicles associated with the Chief Minister. This, he said, makes it even more important for the government to clarify the facts and dispel any suspicion surrounding the matter.

Chodankar sought answers to several questions:

* Who owns the luxury car? Is it registered in the name of a private individual, a public representative or any person connected with the government?

* Who uses the vehicle? Is it used by the Chief Minister, a Union Minister or another politically influential person?

* Why is a police escort provided? What are the official grounds for deploying police personnel to accompany this particular vehicle?

* Where does the vehicle travel? Is its use restricted to Goa, or does it also travel to neighbouring states such as Maharashtra and Karnataka?

* Who authorised the escort? Was the deployment approved under established security protocols, and who bears the associated costs?

Chodankar emphasised that police personnel are entrusted with protecting citizens, maintaining law and order, preventing crime and responding to emergencies. Their deployment must be governed by established rules, genuine security requirements and public interest—not personal influence or privilege.

“At a time when ordinary Goans expect visible police presence to ensure their safety, the government must explain the rationale behind providing an escort to a vehicle of this value. Public resources and police manpower cannot be allowed to become symbols of privilege. If the arrangement is legitimate, the Chief Minister should have no difficulty placing the facts before the people,” he said.

The GPCC President demanded that Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant issue a categorical clarification on the vehicle’s ownership, the identity of its occupants, the purpose of the police escort and the authority under which the arrangement was sanctioned.

He further called for transparency regarding the rules governing police escorts for private vehicles and demanded that any irregularity, if established, be investigated and appropriate action taken.

“The BJP government cannot expect the people of Goa to accept unanswered questions when public institutions and police resources are involved. Transparency and accountability must apply to everyone, regardless of political connections or social status. Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant must come clean and answer the questions raised in the public interest,” Chodankar asserted.
