ZUARINAGAR: A gold ornament worth around ₹4 lakh was allegedly stolen from a locked hotel room in Zuarinagar while a family from Kerala was away, prompting Verna Police to register a case.
According to the complaint filed by Fathima Shah of Kollam, Kerala, she and her family had booked the hotel during their holiday stay.
The family left the room between 7.15 pm and 11.30 pm on April 16. During their absence, unknown persons allegedly entered the locked room and stole a gold ornament valued at approximately ₹4 lakh.
The ornament was reportedly kept inside a bag in the room.
Verna Police have registered an offence under Section 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
PSI Mahesh Bhomkar is investigating the case under the supervision of PI Anand Shirodkar and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
Police are probing how the room was accessed and are working to identify the person or persons allegedly involved in the theft.
