Morjim, November 6, 2025: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Goa strongly condemned the brutal murder of Umakant Khot, allegedly killed by land mafia involved in illegal hill-cutting at Varchawada, Morjim. AAP accused the BJP government of allowing land mafias to operate freely while law and order deteriorates.AAP leaders, including Valmiki Naik, Prasad Shahpurkar, Sunil Signapurkar, and Suvarna Harmalkar, demanded immediate arrest of the main conspirators, suspension of complicit officials, and an impartial investigation. They warned that if arrests are not made, they will lead a morcha with villagers to the police station.AAP expressed solidarity with the Khot family and condemned political interference that enables land mafias, calling the murder a reflection of Goa’s worsening law and order under the BJP.
