AAP Accuses BJP of Betraying Women Over Pending Ujjwala Scheme Benefits Mamata Maben Questions Delay in Payments to 2 Lakh Beneficiaries, Says Women Will Vote BJP Out in 2027

Mormugao, Goa | October 24, 2026: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Goa Women's Wing President Mamata Maben has criticised the BJP government over the alleged delay in disbursing financial assistance under the Ujjwala Yojana, claiming that around 2 lakh women beneficiaries are still waiting to receive their payments.

Maben accused Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and the BJP of failing to fulfil their promises to women, stating that the payments were expected before Chaturthi. However, she alleged that even after Dussehra, thousands of beneficiaries continue to await the promised assistance.

She questioned whether the benefits were being released selectively to BJP workers and their families, demanding clarity from the government on the delay in payments.

AAP Questions Government's Assurances

Maben alleged that the Chief Minister's assurances had failed to address the concerns of women who were struggling to manage their household expenses amid rising prices. She also criticised his reported response to the media on the issue, arguing that women deserved a clear explanation and a definite timeline for receiving the assistance.

According to Maben, the continued delay has added to the frustration of beneficiaries who have been waiting since Chaturthi. She questioned whether the government was taking the financial difficulties faced by women seriously.

Rising Household Expenses Add to Women's Burden

AAP said its Women's Wing had raised concerns about the financial pressures faced by families in Goa during a delegation's visit to the Chief Minister's Office last week.

The party highlighted the rising costs of essential expenses, including electricity and water bills, medical treatment, school fees, petrol and LPG. It argued that inflation, unemployment and low household incomes have made it increasingly difficult for families to manage their daily expenses.

Maben said AAP had previously warned the Chief Minister against taking the concerns of women lightly but alleged that the government had failed to address their grievances.

AAP Warns BJP of Electoral Consequences

Maben asserted that women in Goa would not forget what she described as the government's failure to deliver on its promises. She said the BJP could face electoral consequences in the upcoming Goa Assembly elections in 2027.

AAP maintained that women beneficiaries deserved timely assistance rather than repeated assurances and called on the government to address the pending payments.
