PANAJI: Goa’s AI-based traffic monitoring system has detected over 35,000 traffic violations within just 48 hours of automated enforcement, reflecting widespread non-compliance with road safety rules across the State.
According to data from the Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS), overspeeding accounted for the highest number of violations. Other commonly recorded offences included riding without helmets, not wearing seat belts, using mobile phones while driving, jumping traffic signals and driving on the wrong side of the road.
The AI-enabled surveillance network operates 24x7, automatically identifying violations, capturing photographic evidence and generating e-challans without the need for manual enforcement.
Authorities said the technology has been introduced to strengthen road safety, improve traffic discipline and ensure consistent enforcement of traffic laws.
Motorists have been advised to strictly follow traffic regulations, as every offence detected by the AI camera network is subject to legal action
