*Amit Patkar Begins People’s Outreach in Curchorem; Pandharpur Wari Participation Reflects Commitment to Culture, Service and Grassroots Politics*

Curchorem, July 11: Signalling the beginning of an extensive public outreach programme across the Curchorem Assembly constituency, former Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Amit Patkar today joined the revered Pandharpur Wari along with devotees from Curchorem, reaffirming his commitment to remain connected with the people through both public service and cultural traditions.

Patkar walked with the Warkaris of the Sant Shri Dnyaneshwar Mauli Warkari Trust, led by Dr. Gurudas Naik, as they proceeded on their annual pilgrimage to Pandharpur to seek the blessings of Lord Vitthal and Goddess Rukmini.

Describing the Wari as a living symbol of India’s spiritual and social heritage, Patkar said the tradition has, for centuries, inspired millions with the ideals of equality, devotion, discipline and selfless service.

“The teachings of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Sant Tukaram Maharaj remind us that society progresses when compassion replaces division and service takes precedence over power. Their message remains as relevant today as it was centuries ago,” Patkar said.

He added that public representatives must remain among the people instead of appearing only during elections.

“Politics cannot be confined to speeches and offices. It must be rooted in people’s lives, their culture, their aspirations and their everyday struggles. Walking with the Warkaris is a reminder that genuine leadership begins with humility and constant engagement with society.”

Patkar said his interaction with devotees, youth, women and senior citizens during the Wari strengthened his resolve to work tirelessly for the people of Curchorem. He announced that in the coming months he would undertake an extensive constituency-wide programme to meet families across every village and ward, understand their concerns firsthand and build a strong people’s movement for development, employment, better infrastructure and transparent governance.

He also expressed concern over growing public dissatisfaction with the present state of governance and said people are looking for leadership that is accessible, accountable and committed to solving their problems.

“The people of Curchorem deserve representatives who are available throughout the year and who fight consistently for their rights. My commitment is to work shoulder to shoulder with the people and strengthen their voice both inside and outside the Legislature,” he said.

Offering prayers to Lord Vitthal and Goddess Rukmini, Patkar sought peace, prosperity and good health for every family in Goa and prayed for strength to continue serving society with sincerity and dedication.

Congress workers accompanying Patkar said the overwhelming response received during the Wari has infused fresh enthusiasm among party workers and marked the beginning of an energetic grassroots campaign in Curchorem. They expressed confidence that sustained public engagement, organisational strengthening and issue-based politics would help the Congress emerge stronger in the constituency and regain the confidence of the people in the forthcoming Assembly elections.
