MARGAO: Former Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Amit Patkar will host a Teachers’ Town Hall on September 6 at Gomant Vidya Niketan, Margao, providing teaching and non-teaching staff from across Goa a platform to raise their concerns and grievances.
The town hall is expected to bring together members of the education fraternity, including pre-primary, primary, secondary and higher secondary teachers, vocational teachers, librarians and non-teaching staff.
Patkar said Teachers’ Day should go beyond appreciation and celebrations and should also focus on listening to the challenges faced by educators.
“Teachers are the people who shape Goa’s future. We cannot limit Teachers’ Day to ceremonies, bouquets and words of appreciation. We must also listen to the problems faced by those who dedicate their lives to educating our children,” Patkar said.
According to Patkar, the town hall will provide an open platform for educators to discuss issues related to working conditions, job security, service-related matters, administrative difficulties and other grievances.
“Those who build generations deserve dignity, fairness and justice. Their voices must reach those in power, and their concerns cannot be ignored or buried in files,” he said.
Patkar has urged teaching and non-teaching staff from across Goa to attend the programme and participate openly.
