MAPUSA: The Goa Council of Ayurvedic and Other Allied Indian Systems of Medicine has approached Mapusa Police over alleged unauthorised medical practices, misleading advertisements and possible financial exploitation of patients in the name of Ayurveda and AYUSH treatments.
In its complaint dated August 24, 2026, Council President Dr. Sneha Bhagwat urged police to investigate practitioners and establishments allegedly making unverified claims of guaranteed cures for serious medical conditions.
The Council has specifically flagged advertisements promoting treatment “without operation” for ailments such as piles, fistula and fissure. It has also referred to Dr. A.K. Biswas – Piles Clinic at Pangam House, behind the Police Station at Ansabhat, Mapusa, which allegedly advertises specialised non-surgical treatment for these conditions.
The Council said such claims could mislead vulnerable patients and potentially result in them paying large sums based on assurances that may not have adequate medical or regulatory backing.
Dr. Bhagwat has requested the Mapusa Police Inspector to verify the establishments, examine the claims and take appropriate legal action if violations are found.
The complaint also highlights broader concerns over the use of the Ayurveda and AYUSH label to promote treatments that may require regulatory scrutiny and proper medical verification.
