PANAJI: Revenue, Labour and Waste Management Minister and Panaji MLA Atanasio “Babush” Monserrate has made it clear that he will support the BJP’s official candidate in the Santa Cruz Assembly constituency.
Speaking to reporters, Monserrate said everyone has the democratic right to contest elections, but the BJP’s decision on its candidate would be respected.
“We are part of the BJP, so we will support whichever candidate the BJP chooses,” he said.
His statement comes amid growing political activity in Santa Cruz ahead of the 2027 Goa Assembly elections, with potential candidates being discussed within political circles.
Monserrate reiterated that his support would remain with whoever receives the BJP’s official nomination.
