PORVORIM: Porvorim Police have arrested a 25-year-old man from Ballari, Karnataka, in connection with a case involving allegations of sexual assault, cheating and criminal intimidation after allegedly luring a woman into a relationship on the false promise of marriage.
According to police, the complainant alleged that the accused developed a relationship with her and engaged in sexual relations after assuring her that he would marry her. She later claimed that he reneged on his promise and refused to marry her.
The woman further alleged that the accused administered intoxicating drinks before sexually assaulting her and later threatened to circulate her private photographs on social media.
Following the complaint, Porvorim Police registered an FIR and launched an investigation. A special police team travelled to Hyderabad and Ballari, where the accused was traced and arrested on August 2, 2026.
The accused has been identified as Ravi Teja (25), a resident of Moka, Ballari, Karnataka. He has been booked under Sections 69, 123 and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
The arrest was carried out by a team comprising PSI Viraj Sawant and Constables Akash Navelkar and Sangam Matonkar.
Police said the investigation is continuing under the supervision of PI Tukaram Chavan and SDPO Vishwesh Karpe.
