Goa Pradesh Congress Committee Media and Communication Department Chairman Amarnath Panjikar has strongly criticized the BJP Government after a major disruption near the Chief Minister’s residence at Altinho took nearly two hours to clear, exposing the complete failure of the State’s disaster management and emergency response machinery.
Panjikar said that the incident has shattered the BJP Government’s repeated claims of preparedness and efficient governance. “The most shocking aspect is that this administrative collapse occurred right outside the Chief Minister’s residence. If the Government cannot ensure a swift response at the very centre of power, what hope is left for citizens living in remote villages and urban localities across Goa?” he questioned.
He stated that the BJP Government has mastered the art of publicity but failed miserably in the delivery of governance. “Every year crores of rupees are spent on advertisements projecting a picture of efficiency and preparedness. However, when a real situation emerged, the entire system stood exposed. The Government that boasts about smart governance could not manage a crisis at its own doorstep for nearly two hours,” Panjikar remarked.
Panjikar further said that under BJP rule, governance has become reactive, directionless and disconnected from the realities faced by ordinary citizens. “The people of Goa are paying the price for a Government that is more interested in managing headlines than managing emergencies. Ministers are busy with photo opportunities while administrative accountability has become the biggest casualty,” he added.
Demanding a detailed explanation from the Government, Panjikar said that Goans deserve answers on why it took such an unacceptably long time to restore normalcy in a high-security and high-priority area. “This incident is not merely an administrative lapse; it is a glaring symbol of the BJP Government’s failure to govern effectively. The Government stands exposed before the people of Goa,” he said.
Panjikar asserted that no amount of propaganda can hide the truth any longer. “The real disaster confronting Goa today is not a natural calamity but the BJP Government’s incompetence, arrogance and complete lack of accountability,” he concluded.
