CALANGUTE: The Calangute Congress Block Committee has urged police to take immediate and sustained action against alleged illegal activities, including unauthorised spas, massage parlours, dance bars, late-night operations and touting in Calangute, Baga and surrounding areas.
In a memorandum submitted to the Calangute Police, Block Congress President Lourenco Xaverito Silverio raised concerns over what the committee described as the continued proliferation of such activities despite previous complaints and enforcement drives.
The Congress cited earlier instances of police and Panchayat action, including the reported closure of two illegal spas and notices issued to five others in July 2025. It also referred to anti-touting operations conducted by Calangute Police in the Calangute-Baga area in 2026.
The committee has called for regular inspections and strict action against establishments and individuals found violating the law, arguing that previous measures have not fully resolved the issue.
The memorandum was submitted to the Police Inspector of Calangute Police Station seeking urgent intervention in the popular tourist belt.
