"Ceiling Fan Incident Exposes Govt Neglect: Youth Congress Demands Action"

Panjim; It is both shocking and heartbreaking that a young fourth standard student had to suffer injuries due to a ceiling fan collapsing in her classroom at the Government Primary School in Poriem, Sattari. This horrifying incident is not just an accident — it is a glaring symbol of the government's continued neglect of basic infrastructure in our schools.

While the government never misses an opportunity to boast about "development" and grand projects, the real state of our public institutions, especially schools for our children, tells a very different story. What kind of development allows children to sit under crumbling ceilings and faulty fans? Where is the investment in safe learning environments?

This is not the first such incident — and unless urgent action is taken, it won’t be the last. Routine safety audits, infrastructure upgrades, and accountability measures are not luxuries — they are basic requirements in any institution that deals with the lives of young children.

We demand a thorough and transparent inquiry into this incident, immediate compensation and full medical care for the injured child, and concrete steps to ensure that no child in Goa — or anywhere — has to fear for their safety while sitting in a classroom.

Development should begin where it matters most — in our schools, with our children. Anything less is not just negligence; it is betrayal.
