PANAJI: Goa Forward Party (GFP) chief and MLA Vijai Sardesai raised the issue of pending salaries of more than 458 teaching and non-teaching staff of the Diocesan Society of Goa during the ongoing Assembly session.
Sardesai sought the government’s intervention in resolving the salary issue, highlighting the difficulties being faced by the employees due to the delay in payments.
Speaking in the Assembly, Sardesai said former Congress president Amit Patkar had also approached him regarding the matter and brought the concerns of the affected employees to his notice.
Responding to Sardesai, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant assured the House that the pending salaries would be released within two days, subject to the chairman of the Diocesan Society coming forward and signing the required documents.
The Chief Minister’s assurance is expected to provide relief to the more than 458 teaching and non-teaching employees awaiting their salaries.
