Key Legislative & Financial Highlights
16 Bills Passed: Despite a short assembly session, the house successfully passed nearly 16 key bills impacting state governance and public policy.
₹1,061 Crore Supplementary Budget: A supplementary budget of ₹1,061 Crore was officially approved to support ongoing development schemes.
Budget Expansion: State budget outlay expanded significantly from over ₹20,000 Crore to ₹31,000 Crore during CM Sawant's 8-year tenure.
NITI Aayog Recognition: The state maintained a surplus budget continuously for 5 years, receiving national recognition from NITI Aayog for "Best Financial Management."
Infrastructure & Welfare Achievements
Speaking to reporters, Chief Minister Sawant detailed the transformative flagship projects and social welfare initiatives executed during his tenure:
Major Infrastructure Projects: Successful commissioning and completion of the Manohar International Airport, Porvorim Flyover, Zuari Bridge, Goa Medical College Super Speciality Hospital, and the Fort Aguada Jail Museum.
Grassroots Welfare: Effective rollout of state programs including Swayampurna Goa, Mhaje Ghar housing schemes, multi-story residential housing, alongside Antyodaya, Sarvodaya, and Gramodaya initiatives.
Institutional Support: Establishment of a dedicated Department for Persons with Disabilities (DDW) and launching the Purple International Fest.
Party Headquarters: Highlighting organizational milestones alongside governance, the Chief Minister noted the upcoming inauguration of the BJP’s new state headquarters during his current term.
