Pernem: A written complaint has been submitted to the Dhargal Village Panchayat alleging illegal construction on Survey No. 47/1 at Chonwada, Dhargal. The matter has sparked widespread discussion in the Pernem taluka.
According to the complaint filed on 18 July 2026 by Arjun Prakash Kanolkar with the Panchayat Secretary, a house was allegedly constructed on the property without obtaining the required permissions from the competent authorities. The complaint states that the construction was carried out by Girish Shivram Simepurushkar without any approved building licence or statutory clearance.
The complaint further alleges that Pernem MLA Pravin Arlekar has been residing in the house for the past five years and claims that the structure was built without the necessary technical approvals and construction permits.
The complainant has requested the Panchayat to take immediate action under the provisions of the Goa Panchayat Raj Act, declaring the construction illegal. The complaint also seeks demolition of the alleged unauthorised structure and restoration of the land to its original condition.
Copies of the complaint have also been sent to the Sub-Divisional Officer (Pernem), Directorate of Panchayats (Panaji), Block Development Officer (Pernem), and the Police Inspector of Pernem Police Station.
