PANAJI: The Congress has stepped up its attack on the BJP Yuva Morcha (BJYM), filing complaints over a protest allegedly held at Dabolim Airport while Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge’s convoy was arriving.
Goa Pradesh Youth Congress president Archit Naik submitted a complaint to the Superintendent of Police, alleging that BJYM workers deliberately disrupted security arrangements during Kharge’s movement.
Naik alleged that protesters breached barricades, entered the road and used loudspeakers as the convoy passed through the area. He claimed the incident amounted to a violation of security protocol and could have put Kharge’s safety at risk.
The Youth Congress leader demanded that Goa Police register an FIR against those responsible and take appropriate action under the law. He also urged the police to act independently and give priority to public safety.
Congress leader Amit Palekar questioned why an FIR had not yet been registered. He termed any interference with the security arrangements of a protected political leader a serious issue and sought an explanation from the police.
Palekar also questioned how BJYM workers were allegedly allowed to stage a protest at the airport during the movement of a Z+ security protectee.
The Congress has now demanded strict action against those allegedly involved and sought clarification from Goa Police over the security arrangements and handling of the protest at Dabolim Airport.
