PANAJI, OCTOBER 4: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee Media & Communication Department Chairman Amarnath Panjikar on Saturday criticised the Aam Aadmi Party’s Goa unit, questioning its repeated attacks on Congress while remaining comparatively silent on the BJP-led government in Goa.
Panjikar’s remarks came amid discussions around a possible broader opposition alliance ahead of the 2027 Goa Assembly elections.
“Ek Kachori, Do Samosa — AAP ka kya bharosa?” Panjikar said, accusing AAP of sending contradictory political signals by inviting Congress for an alliance while simultaneously attacking the party on social media.
He questioned why AAP, which has positioned itself as an alternative to both BJP and Congress, was focusing its criticism on Congress instead of the BJP government currently in power.
“Why does AAP find Congress an easier target than the BJP? Is Congress the government in Goa? No. BJP is,” Panjikar said.
He also referred to recent statements by AAP MLA Venzy Viegas calling for Congress and RGP to join an alliance, as well as Goa Forward leader Vijai Sardesai’s support for a broader opposition front.
Panjikar said that if an opposition alliance is genuinely intended to challenge the BJP in 2027, all participating parties should be prepared to take on the ruling government.
Congress Highlights Goy Rakhonn Yatra
Panjikar also spoke about the ongoing Goy Rakhonn Yatra, claiming that the campaign has received participation from NGOs, activists, social organisations, community representatives and citizens.
He said the issues raised during the yatra go beyond party politics and include protection of Goa’s land, identity, water resources and environment.
“The Yatra has already moved beyond the boundaries of a political programme. Goemkars have taken ownership of it,” Panjikar said.
He further accused AAP of engaging in “political double games” and challenged the party to clarify its position ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Venzy Viegas calls Congress. AAP’s official page abuses Congress. Delhi talks of a non-Congress formula. Goa AAP talks of opposition unity. BJP gets silence. Which AAP should Goemkars believe?” he asked.
Panjikar said the final decision on the political direction of Goa would rest with voters in the 2027 Assembly elections.
Goem Rakhonn! Goa Rakhonn! Goemkar Rakhonn!
