Opposition Leader Yuri Alemao has criticised the curtailment of the Goa Assembly’s Monsoon Session, calling it a “murder of democracy.”
Speaking on issues discussed at the Public Accounts Committee meeting, Alemao alleged irregularities and corruption under the BJP-led government and said the Opposition would continue to raise concerns affecting Goa.
He also flagged the sale of land, unemployment, rising prices, pollution and the growing drug menace, alleging that drugs have reached homes, schools and areas near police establishments.
Alemao questioned the government’s efforts to curb the drug trade and pointed to what he described as a low conviction rate in drug-related cases.
“We will not allow Goa to be sold, nor will we allow the BJP to win the 2027 Assembly elections,” he said, warning that the growing drug culture poses a serious threat to Goa’s youth and future.
