FATORDА: Goa BJP President Damu Naik has challenged Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai to an open debate over the development of the Fatorda constituency, alleging that the constituency has not witnessed the level of development expected by its residents.
Naik targeted Sardesai over development-related issues in Fatorda and also raised questions regarding an alleged ₹32-crore pipeline project linked to Sardesai’s farmhouse. Naik said he was ready for an open discussion with Sardesai on the issue as well as on the overall development of Fatorda.
Speaking on the upcoming Assembly elections, Naik said the BJP has set a target of winning 30 seats in the 2027 Goa Assembly elections.
Naik also stated that he would be ready to contest the Fatorda Assembly constituency if the party leadership gives him the mandate.
The remarks come amid growing political activity in Fatorda ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections. The challenge for an open debate is likely to intensify the political contest between the BJP and Sardesai in the constituency.
