GFP Announces Statewide Yatra; Vijai Sardesai Says Gen Z Will Shape Goa’s Political Future

MARGAO: The Goa Forward Party (GFP) has announced a statewide outreach campaign ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, with party president Vijai Sardesai stating that the growing influence of Gen Z is reshaping the political landscape of Goa.

Addressing the media after the GFP state executive committee meeting, Sardesai said young voters have become a significant force in public discussions and that political parties must understand and respond to their expectations.

He pointed to recent youth-led movements as an indication of Gen Z’s increasing role in influencing policy debates and social issues. Sardesai claimed that a large section of Goa’s electorate belongs to this generation, making their participation crucial for the future of politics in the state.

Sardesai said GFP has been working towards greater youth participation within the party by involving Gen Z representatives in its organisational structure. He added that the party plans to further strengthen its engagement with young voters in the coming months.

As part of its election preparations, GFP will launch a statewide yatra covering all Assembly constituencies from Pernem to Canacona. The outreach programme will focus on interactions with youth, women, Scheduled Tribe communities and minority groups.

The party’s executive committee meeting, which lasted nearly three hours, also discussed the impact of recent youth movements and their possible influence on Goa’s political future.

Sardesai reiterated GFP’s support for the United Tribal Associations Alliance (UTAA) and its demand for political reservation for the Scheduled Tribe community.

On his recent meeting with Goa Congress president Girish Chodankar over a possible pre-election alliance, Sardesai said discussions were at an initial stage and that GFP’s statewide outreach would continue regardless of the outcome.
