PANAJI: The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), North Goa, along with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), carried out a joint inspection of flood-prone and landslide-vulnerable areas in Sattari taluka to strengthen monsoon preparedness.
The team visited sensitive locations including Ghonteli in Keri, Anjunem Dam, Chorla Ghat, and Morlem to assess the situation on the ground and review existing safety and emergency response measures.
Officials evaluated potential risks, examined mitigation strategies, and discussed ways to improve coordination among departments involved in disaster management. They also interacted with local residents to understand their concerns and spread awareness about preparedness measures.
According to officials, the exercise was aimed at enhancing operational readiness, improving inter-agency coordination, and ensuring a swift response to any flood or landslide-related emergencies during the monsoon season.
The inspection is part of the district administration’s continued efforts to reduce disaster risks and strengthen emergency response mechanisms across vulnerable areas of North Goa.
