Goa Braces For More Heat As Deficient Rainfall Pushes Temperatures Above 36°C

PANAJI: Goa is expected to experience continued hot and humid weather until October 15, with maximum temperatures exceeding 36°C, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned.

According to IMD Goa Director-in-Charge N. P. Kulkarni, below-normal rainfall during the retreating monsoon, combined with an anticyclonic circulation and existing atmospheric moisture, has contributed to the rising temperatures across Goa and the Konkan region.

Panaji has recorded a maximum temperature of 36.3°C during October, while temperatures across the region have remained above normal in recent days. High humidity, along with the rising heat, has further increased discomfort.

The IMD has issued a yellow warning for hot and humid conditions on October 13, 14 and 15. Residents have been advised to take precautions, including drinking sufficient water, wearing caps while outdoors and avoiding unnecessary exposure to the afternoon sun.

The prevailing weather pattern is expected to continue until October 15, with predominantly dry conditions likely over the coming days.

A possible change in weather is forecast from October 17, when light thundershowers may occur at isolated places across Goa’s three districts.

The IMD has urged residents to remain cautious during the warning period, particularly during afternoon hours when the heat is likely to be most intense.
