PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the Goa Government’s loan waiver scheme is aimed at providing financial relief to people from marginalised communities who have struggled with loan repayments for years.
Speaking at a function organised by the Goa State SC and Other Backward Classes Financial Development Corporation at IMB, Panaji, Sawant said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to the principle of “Bahujan Hitay, Bahujan Sukhay.”
The scheme benefits eligible borrowers from SC, OBC, Divyangjan and Safai Karamchari communities who had availed financial assistance for business activities but later defaulted on their loans.
According to Corporation Chairman Dayanand Mandrekar, 490 beneficiaries have benefited from the loan waiver scheme.
Sawant also announced the Mukhyamantri Bahujan Utkarsh Yojana, which will provide financial assistance to Bahujan students pursuing higher education abroad.
The Chief Minister also distributed loan waiver certificates and orders under the Graha Suraksha Yojana to beneficiaries.
