Goa Police caught two persons from Chimbel and interrogated five others for alleged links with the banned Popular Front of India (PFI), acting on intelligence inputs that they could threaten peace during the exposition of the relics of St Francis Xavier at Old Goa. PRO SP Rahul Gupta informed the media that Yasin Nalur, Mohammed Haveri and Imran Illyas - all from Davorlim, and Shaikh Rauf from Cuncolim were interrogated and thereafter produced before the Magistrate (Margao) with Chapter Proceedings to bound them over for their good behavior. Police also questioned Altaf Sandi, a resident of Curti, Ponda and associated with the Goa Youth Foundation, on similar inputs. He was produced before the Ponda Magistrate with Chapter Proceedings to bound over for good behavior. Earlier around midnight of Nov 21, Old Goa Police rounded up Ashpak Shaikh and another, both residents of Chimbel for suspected affiliation with Palestine and PFI. "They were caught on suspicion of anticipated disturbance during the Exposition… and their indulgence in other illegal association," the police said.
