Goa Police Intensifies Action Against Hawkers, Beggars, and Touts.

PANAJI: In a bid to maintain a safe, clean, and orderly environment for both residents and tourists, the Goa Police has launched a focused operation to crack down on unauthorized hawkers, beggars, and touts across the state.Between January 1 and March 31, 2025, a total of 1,246 individuals involved in these activities were apprehended, with strict enforcement particularly focused in popular tourist areas, such as beach belts.The initiative, which aligns with the vision of the Chief Minister of Goa, aims to address public nuisance caused by unauthorised solicitation and ensure a regulated and welcoming atmosphere for all. The enforcement operations are carried out in close coordination with the state’s tourism department and other relevant stakeholders.“Ensuring the safety and convenience of both locals and tourists is our top priority. These measures are in place to eliminate any disruptions and maintain the integrity of our public spaces,” said a senior Goa Police official.Residents and visitors are encouraged to report any such activities by calling the Police Helpline at 112 or by visiting the nearest police station.With tourism being a key economic driver in Goa, the police remain committed to ensuring that both tourists and locals have a positive and enjoyable experience in the state.
