New Delhi/Panaji: Goa Pradesh Seva Dal Chief Organiser Shri Rajan Ghate was today detained by the Delhi Police at Hazrat Nizamuddin Police Station along with several members of the All India Seva Dal while participating in a peaceful programme in New Delhi.
The Seva Dal volunteers had assembled at Kisan Bhavan for a flag-hoisting programme, dressed in the traditional Seva Dal uniform comprising a white shirt, white trousers, and Gandhi cap. Without any inquiry or provocation, the Delhi Police detained the volunteers and took them to the Hazrat Nizamuddin Police Station.
The volunteers were participating in a peaceful democratic protest demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan over the education crisis and extending support to the demand raised by the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Shri Rahul Gandhi, for a full discussion on the NEET issue in Parliament.
Following their detention, the Seva Dal volunteers, including Shri Rajan Ghate, were reportedly shifted in private buses to an undisclosed location without being informed of their destination, raising serious concerns about the suppression of peaceful democratic dissent.
The Goa Pradesh Seva Dal strongly condemns the arbitrary detention of peaceful volunteers and views such actions as an attempt to silence democratic voices standing with students and youth. The organisation reiterates its unwavering solidarity with students, young people, and Generation Z in their demand for a transparent, fair, and accountable education system.
