Panaji, June 22, 2026: A delegation of the Goa Pradesh Youth Congress, led by President Adv. Archit Naik, met the Director General of Police (DGP) today to raise serious concerns regarding the alleged custodial assault on youths in the Maina-Curtorim case and the recent youth suicide case in Mapusa.
The delegation comprised Adv. Amit Palekar, Samil Volvoikar, Dr. Pratiksha Khalap (President, Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress), Moreno Rebello, Chirag Naik, Naushad Chowdhary, and Mahesh Mhambrey.
During the meeting, the delegation demanded a fair, transparent, and time-bound investigation into both incidents. In the Maina-Curtorim case, the delegation urged the police authorities to ensure strict action against all those responsible for the alleged assault, including accountability for the custodial violence reported against the youths, one of whom was a minor.
The delegation also sought a thorough probe into the circumstances surrounding the Mapusa youth suicide case and requested that all angles be investigated to ensure justice for the victim and his family.
The Goa Pradesh Youth Congress reiterated its commitment to protecting the rights of the youth and ensuring that justice prevails without fear or favour. The delegation emphasized that public confidence in the law enforcement system can only be maintained through transparency, accountability, and prompt action
