Goa has once again raised concerns over the Kalasa Diversion Scheme, urging the Mhadei PRAWAH authority to ensure that no Mhadei water escapes through the masonry plugs installed in the project’s RCC conduits.
At PRAWAH’s seventh meeting, Goa stressed that any diversion of Mhadei waters towards Karnataka’s Malaprabha basin would go against the directions of the Mhadei Water Disputes Tribunal.
The State has also pushed for a joint monsoon inspection of the Kalasa-Bhandura project, along with drone surveys and technical studies, to assess the situation under actual rainfall and river-flow conditions.
Goa has sought Karnataka’s cooperation for field visits by officials and technical experts from the basin States.
The meeting also discussed the delay in preparing the Mhadei Water Yearbook, with PRAWAH seeking pending hydrometeorological data from Goa, Karnataka and Maharashtra.
