MAPUSA: Goa Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte has announced plans to introduce certified tourist guide courses for young people, aimed at creating employment opportunities and building a skilled workforce in the tourism sector.
The initiative will train local youth to become professional tourist guides, allowing them to earn livelihoods while showcasing Goa’s history, heritage and culture to visitors.
Khaunte said the government is also working to expand tourism beyond traditional attractions by promoting culture, spirituality, wellness and regenerative tourism.
He said the focus is on making tourism a year-round economic activity and creating more opportunities for Goan youth. The Minister also highlighted the importance of digital initiatives, better infrastructure and Ease of Doing Business measures in strengthening the tourism sector.
Khaunte urged youngsters to make use of the emerging opportunities in tourism while helping preserve and promote Goa’s unique cultural identity.
