BAINA: Transport Minister and Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho has called for unity within the BJP ahead of the upcoming elections, warning party workers against allowing personal political ambitions to trigger internal divisions.
Addressing the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan at Ravindra Bhavan, Baina, Godinho urged workers to stay away from anti-party activities and work collectively to strengthen the organisation.
He said internal differences should not be allowed to develop into a situation of “BJP versus BJP”, particularly as political activity intensifies ahead of the elections.
Godinho also urged voters to be cautious about what he described as misinformation and misleading statements. Referring to the Goa Ujwala Yojana, he alleged that opposition parties had attempted to divert public attention when the scheme was announced.
He said the strong participation of women at the programme reflected their appreciation of the government’s welfare initiatives and implementation of the Ujwala scheme.
Godinho also highlighted government support for self-help groups and micro and small enterprises, claiming that some beneficiaries had expanded their operations and begun exporting their products.
Without naming anyone, the minister reiterated that individual ambitions should not be allowed to create divisions within the BJP. He called on workers to put the interests of the organisation ahead of personal aspirations as the party enters the election period.
He further appealed to the public to evaluate the government on its work and welfare programmes rather than being influenced by what he described as political propaganda.
