MARGAO: Margao Town Police are investigating a chain-snatching incident in which an unidentified scooter rider allegedly snatched a gold chain from a woman near Costa Factory at Aquem, Margao.
According to the complaint filed by Sharon Fernandes E Menezes, a resident of Aquem Alto, the incident took place on September 2, 2026, at around 8.30 am.
Police said the unidentified rider, who was wearing a helmet and had his face covered, approached the woman near Costa Factory and allegedly snatched a gold chain weighing around 10 grams, along with a cross and medal, from her neck.
The accused then reportedly fled from the spot on the scooter.
The stolen ornaments have been valued at approximately ₹1.90 lakh.
Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Subhash Gaonkar of Margao Town Police Station.
