CHICALIM: Chicalim Sarpanch Kamla Prasad Yadav celebrated his birthday by launching the Gomati Foundation, a new social welfare initiative aimed at supporting education, healthcare and community development across Mormugao Taluka.
The Foundation was formally inaugurated by Goa Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho in the presence of BJP Goa President Damu Naik, Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar, panchayat members, social workers and a large number of local residents.
As part of the launch, a newly upgraded government school campus was dedicated to students. The Foundation also introduced a free ambulance service to provide timely emergency medical assistance, especially for underprivileged families who cannot afford private transport.
Highlighting its commitment to education, the Foundation announced that it will fully sponsor the education of 10 students from economically weaker families every year. Students will be selected from different parts of Mormugao Taluka, with the Foundation covering their educational expenses to help them continue their studies without financial burden.
The event also featured several community-focused activities. A blood donation camp witnessed active participation from volunteers, while a tree plantation drive was organised under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign to encourage environmental conservation and create awareness about protecting nature.
Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries praised the launch of the Gomati Foundation, expressing confidence that its initiatives in education, healthcare and environmental protection would bring meaningful benefits to the people of Mormugao Taluka.
The Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to implementing more welfare programmes and contributing to the long-term social and economic development of the region.
