PANAJI: Kerala Governor Rajendra Arlekar will release two Marathi essay collections by author and journalist Shyam Anant Gaonkar at a book publication ceremony in Panaji on August 28.
The books, ‘Manvedh’ and ‘Avirat’, will be released at 4 pm at the Mini Hall of the Institute Menezes Braganza Hall.
The collections focus on themes relevant to adolescents and young people, promoting positive thinking, optimism, social awareness and human values. Gaonkar’s writings draw from his experiences in journalism, observations of society and reflections on various social developments.
The programme will be attended by Director of Information and Publicity Abhir Hede, Institute Menezes Braganza Chairman Dashrath Parab and journalist Sangam Govind Bhonsule. Bhonsule will speak about the two books during the event.
‘Avirat’ has received pre-publication financial assistance from the Goa Marathi Academy.
Gaonkar has earlier authored two Konkani plays and translated ‘Shivkalin Jalniti’. The author’s new collections are expected to offer young readers ideas and perspectives aimed at encouraging thoughtful and positive approaches to life.
Literature enthusiasts, readers, friends and well-wishers have been invited to attend the book release ceremony.
