**India to Receive Remaining S-400 Air Defence Systems by August 2026***

New Delhi, May 18, 2025* — India is set to receive the final two squadrons of the Russian-made S-400 Triumf air defence system by August 2026, marking the completion of its \$5.43 billion deal with Russia. The agreement, signed in 2018, includes the delivery of five squadrons aimed at significantly boosting India’s air defence capabilities. The delivery, initially expected by early 2024, faced delays primarily due to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. The war has strained Russia’s defense production and logistics networks, leading to a redirection of resources towards domestic military demands and away from export commitments.According to senior defense officials, the first three squadrons have already been deployed in strategically sensitive regions, including India's northern and eastern borders. The remaining two will further enhance India's layered air defence strategy against a range of aerial threats, including aircraft, ballistic missiles, and drones.Despite the delays, the Indian Air Force remains confident about the timeline. “The remaining systems are expected to be delivered by August 2026, and necessary preparations are in place to integrate them swiftly upon arrival,” a defense source stated. The S-400 Triumf is considered one of the most advanced long-range surface-to-air missile systems in the world, capable of engaging targets at a distance of up to 400 km. Its induction is seen as a critical component of India's defense preparedness amid regional tensions.India and Russia continue to maintain strong defense ties, and discussions are ongoing regarding further technological cooperation, including potential local production of system components to overcome future supply chain disruption
