Panaji, July 26: The Ex-NCC Cadets Association–Goa, in association with 1 Goa Battalion NCC and the Goa Human Resource Development Corporation, commemorated the 27th Anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas with great patriotism and solemnity at the Martyrs Memorial, Azad Maidan, Panaji, on Sunday.
The programme paid heartfelt tribute to the brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice during the 1999 Kargil War, with floral tributes, the sounding of the Last Post, a two-minute silence, patriotic cultural performances, and a solemn remembrance ceremony.
Shri Sanjeev Gadkar, IAS, Secretary, Civil Supplies, Government of Goa, attended the event as the Chief Guest, while renowned Bollywood playback singer Hema Sardesai graced the occasion as the Celebrity Guest.
The event also featured the presence of distinguished defence veterans, including Col. Balkrishna Shirodkar (Retd.) and Capt. Utpal Dutta, NM (Retd.), an Indian Navy helicopter pilot and Kargil War veteran, who shared their experiences and honoured the courage and sacrifice of the Indian Armed Forces.
NCC cadets, ex-servicemen, dignitaries, students, and citizens participated in the programme, expressing their gratitude to the nation's heroes. The gathering reaffirmed the importance of preserving the legacy of the Kargil martyrs and inspiring future generations with the values of courage, patriotism, and selfless service.
The programme concluded with a collective pledge to always remember and honour the brave soldiers whose sacrifices safeguarded the sovereignty and integrity of the nation.
