PANAJI: Panaji Police have registered a case against a Kerala-based driver for allegedly driving rashly and negligently, leading to a head-on collision near the entrance of the New Mandovi Bridge that left a woman seriously injured.
The case was registered on June 18 following a complaint filed by Jose Gomes, a resident of Verem-Mansher in Bardez.
According to police, the accident occurred on June 12 at around 4.30 pm when the accused, identified as Thulsidas M. from Palad, Kerala, was driving a white Bolero from Porvorim towards Panaji.
Police said the vehicle allegedly entered a no-entry stretch near the New Mandovi Bridge and collided head-on with a Splendor motorcycle ridden by Jose Gomes.
The impact left Gomes with injuries, while his wife, Maria L.R. Rodrigues, who was travelling as a pillion rider, sustained grievous injuries.
Based on the complaint, Panaji Police have registered an offence against the driver under the relevant provisions of law. Further investigation is being carried out by HC Samir Naik of Panaji Police Station.
