MARGAO: A 45-year-old unidentified man lost his life after allegedly being run over by a bus while sleeping beneath it near the taxi stand on the Aquem side of Konkan Railway Station in Margao on Monday night.
According to Margao Town Police, the incident took place at around 10.35 pm on July 21. The bus driver, identified as Mohammad Shaikh, a resident of Sirvodem, Navelim, allegedly drove the parked bus without checking whether anyone was underneath the vehicle.
The bus reportedly ran over the man, who was sleeping beneath it at the time. He suffered severe injuries and died while being shifted to the District Hospital in Margao.
Margao Town Police have registered a case against the driver for alleged negligence. The investigation is being conducted by PSI Subhash Gaonkar.
