NCRB records have exposed BJP govt’s failure to curb rising crime: LoP Yuri Alemao

Panjim:The recent records released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) have exposed the Goa government’s failure to curb rising crime. The BJP-led administration, which has long boasted about its detection rate, stands exposed with a dismal conviction rate of just 17.1% in 2024.Even more alarming, the NCRB data reveals that Goa recorded the highest rape rate in India in 2024. When police officials are seen socializing with criminals instead of enforcing the law, it is no surprise that public trust in law enforcement has eroded.There is an urgent need to monitor the integrity of officials, many of whom have a history of taking haftas and colluding with criminal syndicates. This government has miserably failed in its duty to provide a safe environment for both the people of Goa and the tourists who visit the state.If the government is eager to boast about statistics, why does it remain silent on these critical NCRB records that expose its incapacity and negligence?
