PANAJI: North Goa Collector Ankit Yadav has directed officials to identify and register all Bulk Waste Generators (BWGs) by August 5 to strengthen the implementation of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026.
The direction was issued during the second meeting of the North Goa Special Cell on Solid Waste Management, held to review compliance with the Supreme Court’s directions in Civil Appeal No. 6174/2023.
The meeting was attended by deputy collectors, Block Development Officers (BDOs), representatives of panchayats, municipalities, police, the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) and the Goa Waste Management Corporation (GWMC).
Officials reviewed the progress of BWG identification and registration, fortnightly compliance reports, and the grievance redressal mechanism.
The Collector also instructed taluka-level teams to conduct regular inspections, closely monitor compliance, and take swift action against violations to ensure the effective enforcement of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026.
