PANAJI: The North Goa District Level Committee (DLC), headed by Collector Ankit Yadav, IAS, has approved 34 forest rights claims under the Forest Rights Act, 2006, following a review meeting of applications from Nanoda and Pansulim villages.
Out of 62 claims examined during the meeting, 34 were sanctioned, while 16 claims were rejected after scrutiny. Additionally, two applicants have been called for personal hearings, and 10 claims have been sent back to the Sub-Divisional Level Committee (SDLC) for further clarification and review.
The meeting was held to assess claims submitted under the provisions of the Forest Rights Act, ensuring that the verification and approval process was carried out in accordance with the prescribed legal guidelines. The decisions are part of the ongoing efforts to implement the Act and address eligible claims of forest-dwelling communities in North Goa.
