PANAJI: The District Magistrate, North Goa has prohibited the digging of roads, shoulders, lanes and thoroughfares without prior written permission during the monsoon season.
The order, effective from June 3 to October 1, 2026, aims to prevent accidents and hazards caused by unauthorised road excavation during heavy rains.
The administration cited risks including waterlogging, skidding on debris and electric shocks from damaged or exposed electrical wires.
All agencies, contractors and individuals planning road-digging works in North Goa must obtain written permission from the District Magistrate before starting any work.
Violations of the order may invite action under the applicable law.
