Rane Urges Goans To Step Up Mosquito-Borne Disease Prevention

PANAJI: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has urged people across Goa to remain vigilant against mosquito-borne diseases during the monsoon, stressing that prevention must begin at home and within local communities.

Rane said stagnant water during the rainy season can increase mosquito breeding and raise the risk of dengue, malaria and chikungunya.

He urged residents to regularly clear stagnant water, keep water containers covered and remove potential breeding sites from homes and neighbourhoods.

Rane also advised people to watch for symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, body ache, rashes and unusual weakness, and seek medical attention promptly if they develop.

Calling prevention a collective responsibility, the Health Minister appealed to citizens to spend a few minutes each week cleaning their surroundings and helping keep Goa mosquito-free during the monsoon.
