Panaji, Goa | 31 August 2026:Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) MLA and St. Andre constituency representative Shri Viresh Borkar raised serious concerns in the Goa Legislative Assembly regarding unemployment, job insecurity and the difficult working conditions faced by youth and employees in the education sector.
During the Assembly proceedings, Borkar highlighted the challenges faced by pre-primary teachers, school counsellors, para-teachers and staff working under the Diocesan Society, many of whom continue to work under contractual arrangements and face uncertainty over their employment.
He pointed out that issues such as delayed salaries, contractual appointments and pending regularisation are creating financial and professional insecurity among education-sector workers who play an important role in supporting Goa's students and schools.
Borkar urged the government to take concrete steps to address these concerns and ensure that workers receive fair employment opportunities, timely salaries, job security and dignified working conditions.
He stressed that the contribution of teachers, counsellors, para-teachers and other education-sector employees must be recognised and protected, rather than leaving them in prolonged uncertainty over their livelihoods.
“Employment should provide dignity and security. Those who dedicate themselves to educating and supporting our children should not be forced to live with constant uncertainty about their jobs or salaries,” Borkar said.
The RGP MLA called upon the government to review existing contractual employment practices, expedite pending regularisation cases and establish a transparent mechanism to protect the rights and welfare of education-sector workers.
Borkar further emphasised that addressing unemployment and job insecurity must remain a priority if Goa is to provide its youth and working population with stable, dignified and sustainable employment opportunities.
