Sanguem Woman Loses ₹1.47 Lakh in Fake SBI Credit Card Scam

SANGUEM: A Sanguem woman has allegedly lost ₹1.47 lakh after falling victim to a fake credit card call, with Sanguem Police registering a case against an unknown person.

According to the complaint filed by Sonia Eliza Mascarenhas, she received a call on July 28 from a person claiming to be an SBI credit card official. The caller allegedly told her that her credit card limit would be increased from ₹2.14 lakh to ₹3.14 lakh.

Believing the caller, Mascarenhas reportedly shared an OTP as requested. Soon after, ₹1,47,200 was debited from her bank account.

She later realised that the call was allegedly fraudulent and approached the police.

Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Krishnadeep Borkar of Sanguem Police Station.

Cyber Safety Alert: Never share OTPs, PINs or banking credentials with callers claiming to represent banks or financial institutions.
