PANAJI: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has appointed Sanjay Barde as the State Chairperson of the Kisan Congress, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee, with immediate effect.
The appointment was approved by Congress President and formally communicated by AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, MP, in an official release issued on September 10, 2026.
Welcoming the appointment, the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee said it was confident that Barde would strengthen the Kisan Congress and work towards raising issues concerning Goa’s farming community.
Barde’s appointment comes as the Congress seeks to deepen its connect with farmers and increase its focus on challenges facing the state’s agricultural sector.
The party said the new leadership would work towards highlighting farmers’ concerns and ensuring that their issues receive greater attention at the political and policy level.
The announcement was made by Amarnath Panjikar, Chairman of the Media & Communication Department of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee.
