CANACONA: Canacona MLA and Minister Ramesh Tawadkar has assured the Canacona Health Welfare Committee that concerns surrounding the Canacona Community Health Centre (CHC) will be taken up with the Director of Health Services (DHS).
The committee has sought the upgradation of the CHC into a Sub-District Hospital, besides urgent action on shortages of doctors, specialists, nurses, technicians and other medical staff.
During a meeting with Tawadkar, committee chairman Diago da Silva, along with Honarato Fernandes and Barretto, highlighted difficulties reportedly being faced by patients and the long-standing healthcare requirements of Canacona.
Committee members said they had been pursuing improvements in healthcare facilities in the constituency for over 15 years. They also pointed to assurances made during Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane’s recent visit that health-related concerns would be addressed within 100 days.
The committee said several issues at the local health facility were still pending and stressed the need for better infrastructure and adequate medical manpower.
Tawadkar said representatives of the Health Welfare Committee would be invited to join him during the meeting with the DHS, where the concerns would be discussed.
