The District Magistrate of North Goa has banned the entry of heavy vehicles at Porvorim on the National Highway-66

The District Magistrate of North Goa has banned the entry of heavy vehicles at Porvorim on the National Highway-66 Elevated Corridor Project with immediate effect, until the completion of the project.

Heavy goods vehicles, such as trailers and containers, coming from the Banda side and proceeding towards the Pernem, Bardez, and Tiswadi talukas, will be required to stop at Patradevi, Sakral, Torsem, Tamoxem, Ugvem, and near Redkar Hospital from 06:00 hours to 22:00 hours. These vehicles will be allowed to ply between 22:00 hours and 06:00 hours. They will take a diversion at the Merces junction towards Banastraim/Cortalim.

Heavy vehicles carrying essential commodities, such as food grains, vegetables, and perishable items, will be allowed to proceed towards Panaji via Porvorim/Merces during non-peak traffic hours, i.e., from 11:00 hours to 12:30 hours, 14:30 hours to 16:00 hours, and from 20:30 hours to 08:00 hours.

Heavy vehicles traveling to and from the Pilerne Industrial Estate will not be allowed to use the road from Porvorim to reach their destination between 06:00 hours and 22:00 hours. These vehicles will take a diversion at the Saligao junction to proceed towards Mapusa/Green Park junction for their onward journey.
